LD-35 35mm Gun & Missile Integrated Weapon System

The LD-35 is a modern integrated air defense system (CIWS – Close-in Weapon System) designed for short-range protection against aerial threats like aircraft, helicopters, and precision-guided munitions. It combines a 35mm cannon for high-volume fire with surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) for extended range and higher kill probability against incoming targets. This dual-weapon approach provides robust and layered defense for high-value ground assets or fixed military installations.

LD35 35mm artillery combined with anti-aircraft weapon system

China’s Lu Dun 35-gun self-propelled air defense system is equipped with a single-barreled 35mm rotary gun, equipped with a muzzle velocity measurement and a fixed coil. The video shows that the single-tube 35mm rotary gun fired three rounds of “Ahide” programmable prefabricated fragmentation ammunition and shot down a small four-axis drone.

Key Capabilities

  • Dual-layer effect: high-rate 35 mm cannon for close-in, high-volume engagements plus guided missiles for extended reach and precision.

  • Integrated sensors: search & tracking radar, electro-optical/IR turret, laser rangefinder and IFF interface.

  • Advanced fire-control: automated target detection, tracking, engagement prioritization, and networked C2 integration.

  • Flexible mounting: chassis-agnostic module for wheeled/tracked vehicles, naval mounts, or static bases.

  • Modular payloads: selectable missile cell counts, ammunition types (airburst, APFSDS, training), and mission kits (C-UAV, counter-ram).

  • Remote operation & crew protection: optional remote turret control, armored crew pod or stand-alone remote station.
