Y-20 Large Military Transport Aircraft

The Xian Y-20 Kunpeng is China’s first domestically produced heavy, strategic military transport aircraft and the largest strategic airlifter for the PLAAF. Designed for long-distance missions, it can transport heavy equipment and personnel during military operations, humanitarian aid, and disaster relief. It features a broad fuselage, high-set wing, and heavy-duty landing gear for operating from rugged and unpaved runways.

The Y-20  is a large military transport aircraft developed by the Xi’an Aircraft Industrial Corporation for the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
The development of the Y-20 aircraft refers to the aerodynamic shape and structural design of the Russian Il-76, and incorporates some features of the American C-17. The Y-20 adopts a conventional layout, a cantilevered upper wing, a leading edge swept back, and no winglets. It has high extensibility, high reliability and safety. As a large multi-purpose transport aircraft, the Y-20 can carry out long-distance air transport tasks of various materials and personnel under complex weather conditions.
The Y-20 model first appeared at the Abu Dhabi Defense Exhibition in February 2023. The aircraft is suspected to be equipped with a turbofan engine with a larger bypass ratio, which means that the engine has greater thrust and is more fuel-efficient.
